Jaffna Hindu College Annual Inter-house Athletic meet was held on Friday, the 16th Feb 2018 in the college grounds under the patronage of Principal Mr Satha Nimalan. Mr Loga Pradhaban, a past student of Jaffna Hindu, was the chief guest. The event started with a special Pooja at Gnana Vairavar kovil around 1.30 PM and then the chief guest and other guests were taken to the venue on a procession paraded by college band and prefects, Scout and house’s march past.
The athletic meet started with the hoisting of the school flag by the senior prefect and the house flags by the respective house captains. The oath taking in accordance with the intermnational olympic rules took place next. Following that was the lighting of olympic torch and then the athletic event started. At the end of the sporting events, the Sellathurai house was on the top of leader board with 426 points and claimed the champion trophy.

About the Chief Guest:
Loga Pradhaban studied at JHC from 1979 to 1984 and continued his A/Level in London. After graduating from University of Westminster, he received his Master of Science degree in Telecom Management at the Anglia University. Following his graduation, he launched his career in Telecom Industry that eventually let to own a business for the last 20 years.
Not only Mr Pradhaban but also his family has a long term connection with Jaffna Hindu College as his father late Mr.Logasingham, a well-known Principal from Vavuniya, is also past student of Jaffna Hindu. His father in law late Mr.S.Subramaniam, Former Chairman of the Urban Council of Vavuniya, is also an old boy of Jaffna Hindu.
During his time at Jaffna Hindu, he participated in various sports activities. He is a multitalented young man who has a passion for sports. As a keen sports person, he took part in many events including athletics and competed in road races. He was also an active member of the Chess Club and Scout Troop throughout his school days.
As a man of great energy and versatility, he has developed a strong sense of devotion with a focus in youth community. Mr Pradhaban has been very actively involved in many projects that promote sports and empower young generation, both in UK & Sri Lanka, for the past 25 years. He was the founding manager of the JHCOBA (UK) cricket and football teams and the co-founder of the Jolly Stars Sports Club (UK). His contribution in the sporting field is well recognised in the UK. He is a Board of Governor in the British Tamils Sports Council (BTSC) , and British Tamils Cricket League (BTCL), a leading community league in UK, consisting more than 55 Tamil teams.

2018ம் ஆண்டிற்கான யாழ்ப்பாணம் இந்துக் கல்லூரியின் இல்ல மெய்வல்லுனர் போட்டி 16.02.2018 வெள்ளிக்கிழமை அன்று கல்லூரி மைதானத்தில் கல்லூரி அதிபர் திரு.சதா நிமலன் அவர்கள் தலமையில் சிறப்புற இடம்பெற்றது., இந் நிகழ்விற்கு பிரதம விருந்தினராக யாழ் இந்துவின் பழைய மாணவன் திரு. லோகசிங்கம் பிரதாபன் அவர்கள் கலந்து சிறப்பித்தார்.
நண்பகல் 1.30 மணியளவில் ஞான வைரவர் ஆலயத்தில் இடம்பெற்ற விசேட பூசை வழிபாடுகளைத் தொடர்ந்து விருந்தினர்கள் கல்லூரி பாண்ட் வாத்திய குழுவினரின் அணிவகுப்பு மரியாதையுடன் மைதானத்திற்கு அழைத்து வரப்பட்டனர். அவர்களைத் தொடர்ந்து கல்லூரியின் மாணவ முதல்வர்கள் கல்லூரிக் கொடியினை ஏந்தியவாறு அணி நடையின் தலைமை பெறுப்பினை பெற்றுவர தொடர்ந்து சாரணர், தேசிய மாணவர் படையணி நடைபவனிகளைக் தொடர்ந்து நாகலிங்கம், சபாபதி, பசுபதி, காசிப்பிள்ளை, செல்லத்துரை இல்லங்கள் தத்தமது வர்ண நிறக்கொடிகளுடன் அணிவகுப்பு மரியாதையில் கலந்து கொண்டனர். கல்லூரி விளையாட்டுப்போட்டிகளில் முதன்முறையாக தமிழர்களின் வீர விளையாட்டுக்களான சிலம்பாட்டம் மற்றும் வாள் சண்டைகளை உள்ளடக்கிய பாரம்பரிய நடைபவனியும் இணைந்து கொண்டது.
எமது கல்லூரியின் பெருமை பொருந்திய நீலம் வெள்ளை கொடியானது 5 இல்லங்களினைச் சேர்ந்த இல்ல தலைவர்களினால் எடுத்துவரப்பட்டு கொடிக் கீதம் இசைக்க கல்லூரி சிரேஷ்ட மாணவ முதல்வன் செல்வன் நி.பிருந்தாபன் அவர்களால் ஏற்றிவைக்கப்பட்டது. அதனைத் தொடர்ந்து இல்லக் கொடிகளும் ஏற்றி வைக்கப்பட்டன. வழமை போன்றே 5 இல்லக் கொடிகளும் மோட்டார் வண்டி பவனியாக மைதானத்தினை சுற்றிவந்து தமது தொடரூந்து மரியாதையினை வழங்கினர்
சர்வதேச ஒலிம்பிக் விளையாட்டு போட்டி விதிகளுக்கமைவாக கல்லூரி சிரேஸ்ட மாணவ முதல்வனின் வழிகாட்டலில் சத்தியப்பிரமாணம் எடுக்கும் நிகழ்வு இடம்பெற்றது. ஒலிம்பிக் தீபமாது கல்லூரி மெய்வல்லுனர் சாதனையாளர் செல்வன் எனோக்ராஜ் அவர்களால் எடுத்து வரப்பட்டு தீபம் ஏற்றப்பட்டதை தொடர்ந்து விளையாட்டு நிகழ்வுகள் ஆரம்பமாகின.
இம்முறை இடைவேளை நிகழ்வுகள் பார்வையாளர்களை கவரும் வகையில் சிறப்பான முறையில் அமைந்திருந்தது. தரம் 6 மாணவர்களின் இசையுடன் கூடிய உடற்பயிற்சி நிகழ்வும், இள நிலை மாணவர்களின் வீர தீர செயல்களுடன் கூடிய உடற்பயிற்சி நிகழ்வும் சிறப்புப் பெறுகின்றது. தொடர்ந்து கல்லூரி பண்பாட்டுக் கழக மாணவர்களினால் சிலம்பாட்டம், வாள் சண்டை, மான் கொம்பு சண்டை மற்றும் தீயினைத் தாங்கிய சிலம்பாட்ட ஆற்றுகை அனைவரினதும் பாராட்டுக்களையும் பெற்று புதிய முயற்சியாக தமிழ் பாடசாலைகள் வரலாற்றில் பதிவாகியது.
செல்லத்துரை இல்லமானது 426 புள்ளிகளைப் பெற்று முதலாம் இடத்தினைப் பெற்றுக்கொண்டது. அதனை தொடர்ந்து பசுபதி இல்லம் 413 புள்ளிகளுடன் இரண்டாம் இடத்தினையும், சபாபதி இல்லம் 412 புள்ளிகளுடன் மூன்றாம் இடத்தினையும், காசிப்பிள்ளை இல்லம் 404புள்ளிகளுடன் 4 ஆம் இடத்தினையும், நாகலிங்கம் இல்லம் 360புள்ளிகளுடன் 5ஆம் இடத்தினையும் பெற்றுக்கொண்டன.
விளையாட்டு வீரர்களுக்கான பரிசில்களையும் கேடயங்களையும் பிரதம விருந்தினரின் பாரியார் திருமதி.சுபசிறி பிரதாபன் அவர்கள் வழங்கி கெளரவித்தார், அதனை தொடர்ந்து நன்றி உரையுடன், கல்லூரி கீதத்துடன் விளையாட்டுப் போட்டி இனிதே நிறைவுற்றது.
இந்துவின் இணையதிற்காக கொழும்பில் இருந்து தர்மரட்ணம் சுஜீவன்.
